Gabrovo: Bulgaria’s House of Funny

"Legends say that they cut the tails of cats so that the door closes faster after them."

We visited Gabrovo Youth Center with Seda and Sara. We had the opportunity to meet many new people. We also attended a charity event in Gabrova. We visited Gabrovo twice. On our second visit, we visited the Interactive Museum of Industry and the Museum of Satire and Humor. Thanks to Gabrovo Youth Center for invitation.

Eco-Workshop

Seda and I were invited to participate in a charity event organized by the Youth Parliament and the Youth Center of Gabrovo to support the health treatment of young boy Vitomir. We prepared products from recycling materials and a board game for the eco workshop during the event. I wish success to the campaign for Vitomir.

Ethno Village Etar

A famous ethnographic village in Bulgaria, founded on the 7th of September 1964. The complex is situated at 8 km South of Gabrovo on the way to Stara Zegora and at 205 km from Sofia. Very famous in Bulgaria, it was for me a very nice discovery.

Etar reflects the old architectural style of Bulgaria. We can call it an open-air museum for Etar. There were many craft shops, eg traditional clothing shop, blacksmith, painter and baker etc. Built near by a river, the quietness of this spot made me very relaxed and attentive to the visit.

Museum of Satire and Humor

I can say that Gabrovo has a unique sense of humor. They even have a museum about their jokes. I would like to thank Martin for introducing us to the city and the museums.

This museum impressed me a lot because it had many interesting products and areas of experience. For example, we drew a picture with chalk on the wall, planted seeds, tied ropes to pipes, wandered around the mirror room, walked around the painting exhibition. Even though I don't understand jokes very well, I definitely recommend you to visit this museum.

Interactive Museum of Industry

On the same day, we visited the Interactive Museum of Industry. This museum had 4 floors and each floor was telling a different period. In the museum, there were such as a movie theater, smart screens that you can control with a simple arm movement, and games that you will be provided many interesting experiences by technological devices.

I highly recommend you to visit the Interactive Museum of Industry and thank you to the Bulgarian Youth Forum and Gabrovo Youth Center for providing us with these opportunities.

Thank you for taking the time to read this far.
