Just do it, you will eventually do it anyway!
I arrived in Sofia from Turkey by bus, which took about a day. Yes, one day. This was my first long-haul trip. Tired no, because insomnia can't beat me. Anyway, let's not get off-topic.
When I first came to Sofia, I freaked out because, for the first time, I was seeing buildings left over from the communist era. There was another Hakan inside me saying things like, where am I and what am I going to do here, but I usually don't listen to him or I wouldn't be here. Yes, the buildings scared me, but when I got to the city center and met my roommate, Sara, and toured the city a bit, I realized that I was biased. Also, the interiors of the apartments were renovated according to the modern period.
On my first day, my roommate Sara, I'm posting her blog here, I think you should check it out, she was very welcoming, and warm, and cooked for me, which I think is a very nice gesture. I found the citizens very warm and kind. For example, it is not a situation that I am used to when every driver gives way to me while crossing a pedestrian crossing, because in my country everyone is in a hurry and I cannot say that they are very polite in traffic. But this does not apply to everyone, of course.
As for why I am in Sofia, I am here for a volunteer project organized by the Bulgarian Youth Forum. This activity is generally about doing things with youth people, creating things with them, giving them advice from our own experiences, making them feel that they are not alone, and talking about their future concerns. This purpose was the most important factor in my choosing Sofia. To touch their future and to find my way and purpose in life.
Thank you for taking the time to read this far.
